Dr. Ariel Williamson (she/her) is a licensed clinical psychologist, Diplomate in Behavioral Sleep Medicine (DBSM), and assistant professor at The Ballmer Institute for Children’s Behavioral Health and in the Department of Psychology (clinical area) at The University of Oregon, where she directs the BEDS Lab. She earned her doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Delaware, completed her clinical internship at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) in integrated behavioral health, and completed a T32 fellowship in Behavioral Sleep Medicine at CHOP and the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. Dr. Williamson is a Sleep Expert for the Pediatric Sleep Council, which provides evidence-based early childhood sleep information. She is also Associate Editor for Sleep Health: The Office Journal of the National Sleep Foundation. She is a member of the Society for Pediatric Research, an Associate Editor for Sleep Health, and a committee member for the American Heart Association’s LIFESTYLE Sleep Health Committee of the Council on Lifestyle and Cardiometabolic Health. Dr. Williamson’s research has been funded by NICHD, NHLBI, the Sleep Research Society Foundation, and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine Foundation. She is deeply honored to have received early career awards recognizing her contributions to sleep and circadian science. These include the 2023 Carole L. Marcus Outstanding Achievement Award from the American Thoracic Society, the 2023 Arthur Spielman Early Career Distinguished Scientific Achievement Award from the Society of Behavioral Sleep Medicine, and the 2024 Clinician Investigator Rising Star Award from the Sleep Research Society. In her free time, Dr. Williamson enjoys spending time with her friends and family, hiking, and wine tasting.
